From the Ring to Rehabilitation: The Story of The Remedial Massage Company

My path to becoming a massage therapist wasn't chosen; it was forged through injury, frustration, and a life-changing encounter.
After suffering two severe injuries in my kickboxing career, I faced years of arduous rehabilitation. It was a period defined by challenge and a desperate search for solutions. That search led me from Ireland to London for a specialized spinal realignment therapy. There, I met a man named Mahendra.
Mahendra, who had been blinded by a severe injury decades prior, had mastered his craft entirely through touch. His skill was extraordinary, but his insight was even more profound. During our session, he posed a simple question that would alter the course of my life: "Have you ever considered training as a masseuse?"
He saw a potential in me that I hadn't seen in myself and offered to be my teacher.
Armed with this unexpected opportunity, I sought counsel. The resounding advice from physios and sports massage therapists was clear: "Give it a go." And so, my adventure began.
I was not alone on this new path. My kickboxing club, my former coaches, and training partners became my first clients and my greatest supporters, offering their bodies and feedback as I honed my skills. I was also fortunate to receive guidance from dedicated local yoga instructors, deepening my understanding of anatomy and movement.
What started as a personal quest for healing evolved into a passion for facilitating it in others. I found my new corner, not in the ring, but in the treatment room, helping fighters prepare for battle and recover from injury.
The positive feedback from this community gave me the confidence to build something of my own. And so, The Remedial Massage Company was born.
Today, I bring the discipline I learned in kickboxing, the perceptive touch taught by my blind mentor, and a deep personal understanding of injury and recovery to every session. I know what it's like to be in pain, and I know what it takes to get out of it.
Let me help you on your road to recovery.
